Georgia Leading The Nation in Health IT
Georgia’s biggest and brightest health IT leaders converge annually at the Health IT Leadership Summit. Each year, this dynamic event features industry luminaries discussing the most pressing issues that face our healthcare and health IT industries, with a look to the future.
The summit showcases Georgia as the nation’s health IT capital. There are more than 250 health IT companies in Georgia, supporting nearly 30,000 jobs. Atlanta, alone, is home to nine of the nation’s top health IT companies with cumulative revenues totaling more than $4 billion.
But, it’s not just the number of companies or jobs that we have in this field. What really solidifies us as the nation’s health IT capital is our ecosystem. It’s our critical mass and it’s the fact that health IT is virtually changing the way we live.
What is health IT and why is it important? The easy example today would be electronic medical records, but health IT is considerably more than that. It’s the technological path that helps healthcare consumers receive the best information and have access to the greatest minds in medicine without ever having to leave the house. That’s the vision.
Here in Georgia, that vision is fast becoming reality.
